Wacky Wednesday - "If You Give a. . ." Children's Books by Laura Numeroff with illustrations by Felicia Bond

If you are one of the very few parents, teachers, or grandparents who haven't discovered this wonderful "If You Give a. . . "  series of books, by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond,  I'm here to tell you they are wacky, silly fun.   

I first found them when I was doing my student teaching in Kindergarten and First Grade.  They are circular stories that start and end with the same "If you give a..."  They alternately feature a boy or a girl helping the various animals with their requests.  The kids love them and the illustrations are such fun -- you start to believe that people and animals interact that way!  For ages 4 to 8 (some sites say 3 to 7), depending on their reading level.  The younger ones love them read aloud and the older ones can read the books by themselves or read to a younger child.  Enjoy!
